Diamonds Can Be Made from Hair

People have two lives. The first one is in reality and the second in memory. Countless moments in life inspire people to express love, trust, and appreciation. A lab-grown diamond made from hair is one form of expression of people's emotions. When someone we love passes away, we keep a lock of their hair to make a lab-grown diamond that will last forever. To create a memorial diamond out of hair, our laboratory simulates the natural environment in the earth's interior. It then extracts the carbon necessary for a diamond out of the hair, which grows into a lab-grown diamond.

  • After the death of loved ones, their ashes or hair can be turned into a memorial diamond. Human ashes contain 1% to 4% carbon which can be extracted to create a cremation diamond, while hair contains 40%-45% carbon that can be extracted to make a hair diamond. Making a hair diamond out of a loved one's hair is another opportunity to experience the ever-present love. It is an eternal memorial diamond, an embodiment of love, and it's something no one can take away from you. This hair diamond will always be with you because love never goes away.

The brilliance, the glow, the brightness, and the flowing sparkles of hair diamonds can illuminate more than just your fingers. They can be set in a pair of radiant earrings among your hair, a gemstone necklace pendant around your neck, or a delicate bracelet around your wrist. At EverDear™, you can choose the cut and style that meet your expectation. And because the hair diamond is a real diamond, it shares the same structure as a natural diamond. It is a true family keepsake that can be passed down through generations.

GIA & IGI Certification for Diamonds Made out of Hair

Diamonds Made out of Hair Are Real Diamonds

The human body contains 18 percent carbon, while diamonds are pure carbon. Cremation diamonds are real diamonds made from the hair of a loved one and are of the same grade as natural diamonds. They are the most remarkable token of love and an eternal connection between two souls. Only a few grams (5-8 grams) —or about a handful of hair is needed to produce a diamond. Lab-grown diamonds made from hair are tested genuine by a diamond tester because they're made of crystallized carbon, just like mined diamonds. Both lab-grown diamonds and mined diamonds have the same chemical, optical and physical properties. Natural diamonds are created under the earth's crust over millions of years, then they are mined, cut, and polished. Lab-grown diamonds are made under conditions (pressure and temperature) similar to nature in a controlled laboratory environment. They are also real diamonds.

GIA certify lab made diamonds from hair like natural diamonds

GIA Certification

GIA stands for the Gemological Institute of America, considered the world's leading gemological research institute. GIA tests diamonds and grades them based on the 4Cs: carat weight, cut, color, and clarity. A GIA diamond is certified by the world's foremost authority, an independent third-party gemological laboratory. GIA diamonds are examined by a minimum of four highly trained diamond graders and gemologists. A more senior staff member independently grades the stone every time the diamond evaluation process proceeds to the next stage.

IGI also certify lab made diamonds from hair

IGI Certification

The International Gemological Institute (IGI) was established in 1975 and now has headquarters all around the world. The independent laboratory carefully studies colored stones, jewelry, and lab-grown diamonds to determine their authenticity.

An Unparalleled Gift Made from Hair

Hair Preparation

Making a diamond out of a lock of hair is the same process as making a diamond from ashes. If you would like to create a diamond less than or equal to 0.30 ct, about 0.05 ounce (1 gram) hair will be needed. For a diamond greater than 0.30 ct, about 0.1 ounces (2 grams) of hair will be required.

To customize your priceless love, you can have your diamond mounted in platinum or gold (18k rose, white, or yellow).

FAQs for Diamonds from Hair

  • Diamonds can be made out of hair. Human hair contains large amounts of carbon which is the element that makes up a diamond. This means that we can now turn hair into lab-grown diamonds by using specialized technology to extract carbon from hair. The diamond can be created out of one or multiple people's hair or even be made from your pet's fur.

To grow a diamond in the laboratory, only a tiny amount of hair is needed. The next time you go for a haircut, you can ask your barber to collect a small lock of hair for you. You can also cut off a small amount of hair yourself from an inconspicuous area if you have long hair. You can use a jar or a sealed box to contain the hair and send it to our headquarters for diamond production.

Human hair contains about 45% of carbon which can be used to create diamonds. After the laboratory has received your hair, our experts will analyze components of the hair and extract the carbon within. The carbon from your hair will then be put under a high-pressure, high-temperature environment to form a diamond.

  • As a relatively highly-effective carbon source, hair is made up of approximately 45% carbon. With plenty of carbon for extraction, just a small lock or only a few grams of hair will be enough for growing a beautiful diamond. At EverDear™, to produce a 1 carat diamond, 2 grams of hair is usually needed. You will need more hair if you want to create diamonds in larger sizes or make multiple diamonds from your hair.

EverDear™ can turn your hair into diamonds weighing from 0.08 carats to 3 carats and can make a set of two to four diamonds from your hair at once. If you want to make diamonds in other special sizes and numbers, you can contact our consultant for advice about how much hair will be needed.

When you choose to grow a large diamond or a set of diamonds out of hair, there's no need to worry if cutting part of your hair may ruin your hairstyle. The hair for diamond production is not necessarily from one person. You can collect hair from your spouse, your kids, other family members, or even the fur from your beloved pet. Just a little bit of hair from everyone, you can get memorial diamonds that connect the whole family.

  • The key to growing diamonds from hair is to put the carbon extracted from hair in an environment similar to where natural diamonds form and crystallize it into rough diamonds. Before the hair is made into a diamond, the laboratory experts' first step is to analyze the hair and filter out the various components other than carbon contained in the hair. Then, the carbon extracted will be further purified through chemical processes to be turned into a diamond.

The carbon from hair will be put in special equipment to be converted into graphite. In a High-Pressure, High-Temperature (HPHT) environment, the carbon atoms are transformed into "diamond cubic" and become a rough diamond. Laboratory experts can apply special treatments to create diamonds in fancy colors during this process. The diamond will stay in the HPHT machine for months. Typically, the bigger diamond is needed, the longer it will take.

After a rough diamond from hair completes growing, it will be cut and polished by our experienced diamond artisans. The finished diamond will be customized in any way you like. We can also put the diamond from hair in different jewelry settings to create beautiful memorial jewelry with exceptional sentimental value.

  • The costs of making a diamond from hair or cremated ashes are usually lower than that of a traditional burial with caring for the grave. The cost of turning your hair into a diamond will depend on the carat weight, color, and cut of the diamond you want.

The bigger the diamond from hair is, the more expensive it will be. When the carat weight crosses a certain line, the price increase may intensify. For example, despite the slight increase in carat weight, a 1-carat diamond can be 10-20% more expensive than a 0.9-carat diamond.

Meanwhile, the vendor you are buying a diamond from is also an important factor that can largely affect the price. While other companies are charging $2,999 for a 0.1-carat yellow diamond, EverDear™ charges only $895, providing our customers with the most competitive prices on the market. We will even go further by giving you a special discount if you order multiple diamonds all at once. If you are interested in turning your or your loved one’s hair into diamonds but are limited by a tight budget, EverDear™ will be your ideal choice as we offer the best price worldwide. Welcome to check our price list for more details.

  • When using hair as raw material to grow a lab-grown diamond, people may have concerns about whether the quality or properties of the hair will have an impact on the final diamond created. In reality, these are the questions that people don’t need to worry about.

Every type of hair can be made into diamonds; it doesn’t necessarily have to be from a human, but can also come from your beloved pets. It doesn’t matter if the hair is black or blond, natural or dyed, straight or curly. When the amount is enough, our laboratory experts can turn the hair you provide into beautiful lab-grown diamonds in the size, shape, and color you like.

The hair color does not matter to the color of the diamond, because it is the carbon extracted from hair that creates the diamond. However, the components inside the hair may have a slight influence on the depth of the diamond color. A completely colorless diamond is made from totally purified carbon extracted from hair. However, the yellow and blue shades of diamonds from hair are created by different trace elements in hair. The yellowish shades are created by various amounts of nitrogen, and when we keep the boron from hair, it forms various hues of blue

The number of trace elements in everyone’s hair is different, which means the color of the finalized diamond from hair can slightly differ from light to vivid. That’s why the process to customize diamond form hair is so special and personal. Every memorial diamond created can have a special color as unique as the owner of the hair.
